Kiwanis House
Supportive, transitional housing program for single, young mothers (ages 16-29) parenting one child under the age of 5 years.
The program offers safe and affordable housing for young women facing a multitude of challenges which can include healthy relationships, mental health, unstable housing, and financial struggles.
Support services include :
- counselling,
- parenting support,
- education and pre-employment support,
- advocacy,
- connecting with resources, and
- independent living skills such as budgeting, nutrition, and goal planning.
Programming includes weekly parent drop-ins, community dinners, Food Skills for Families program, and workshops on topics such as self-esteem, conflict resolution, anger management, and positive communication. Parenting programs include Mother Goose, Nobody's Perfect and Triple P.
Individuals can be referred or self refer to the program. Staff use a strength-based approach to support each young mom in identifying their own goals.
