Claremont Secondary School Key Club Celebrates 25 years

HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY
CLAREMONT SECONDARY SCHOOL KEY CLUB!

The Club was chartered on January 11, 1988, with an initial 27 members. Our current Honorary Member Mickey Stevens, then a member of the former Kiwanis Club of Cordova Bay, was instrumental in the Chartering process. The Cordova Bay Club was the initial sponsor of the Key Club. When the Cordova Bay Club was dissolved in 1992, the Kiwanis Club of Sidney & Peninsula took on sponsorship of the Claremont Key Club until 2008.

In 2008 the Kiwanis Club of Victoria assumed sponsorship. We proudly continue to sponsor the Claremont Key Club and look forward to opportunities to interact with these wonderful youth leaders. Each year since assuming sponsorship, in cooperation with the Kiwanis Foundation of Canada, we have offered a minimum of 2 scholarships, and last year, due to exceptional circumstances, were able to grant 5 scholarships and bursaries.

Over the years the Key Club has undergone various transformations, particularly in the area of fundraising where the main thrust is now recycling. The Key Club motto is “Serving, our way of Life”. Key Club members serve through projects such as ‘KCCP’, the Eliminate project, the Key Club Governor’s project ‘Project Educate”, the water station for the Goodlife Fitness Victoria Marathon, the Starlight Foundation, BC Children’s Hospital, Jeneece Place, and many more activities.

We are indeed proud of the community service completed each year by the Claremont Key Club.
